Hundreds of thousands of public service workers joined demonstrations around the country on 9 May as part of national strike action and protests against government plans for public sector reform. The unions are demanding a proper process of social dialogue over the government proposals which are due to be presented to parliament on 13 May.

Nine public sector trade union organisations have come together to organise a national day of action on 10 October in protest at government attacks on the pay, conditions and jobs of public service workers.
