EPSU update on trade negotiations and public services February 2015

Handsoff

(20 February 2015) Below a brief EPSU update on trade and public services issues (TTIP, CETA, TiSA, EU-Japan) and also two very good publications:
- ‘Impact of the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) on the Legal Framework for Public Services in Europe’ by Professor Markus Krajewski and Britta Kynast, Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nürnberg.
- ‘The legal implications for the NHS of Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership’ by Dr. Kyriaki-Korina Raptopoulou, specialist practitioner in Medical Law, Health Law, Social Security and Public Procurement Law.
The main issue at the moment is the European Parliament (EP) INTA committee resolution on TTIP. The update gives the link to the draft resolution and information about the timetable, and we will come back to you with more information about the content and what we can do to strengthen the text.
We also attach a table version of the reservations taken out by Member States in CETA. Apparently Member States have been asked to consider removing these in the context of TTIP and TiSA – any information about this would be appreciated.
