Joint EPSU/ETUI Technical Seminar on Taking stock of the impact of COVID-19 in hospitals, learning lessons and preparing for the future

At the HSS meeting on the 11th September 2020, the HSS Standing Committee agreed “to organize an internal EPSU technical seminar, open to affiliates, to discuss COVID and how to ensure preparedness for the health workforce”.

The seminar will aim at understanding how, from the trade unions and social partners side, we can ensure preparedness and increase health and safety in the event of pandemic. This seminar will also allow a more horizontal exchange among affiliates on this topic and define EPSU priorities, involving experts and inputs from organizations such as ECDC, ETUI, ETUC. Further to this, the seminar will be prepared on the basis of contributions coming from affiliates and through the set up of a steering group.

The technical seminar will be a good opportunity to take stock of initiatives to strengthen preparedness and to plan the next steps, in particular in the framework of the sectorial social dialogue.

Three main headings envisaged for this seminar are:

  • Hospital preparedness, i.e. protocols,  clinical guidelines, training,  PPE   (taking account the hierarchy of OSH risks).  We would seek input also from WHO and ECDC on this part.
  • Mental health, long-term well-being of staff (psycho-socio risks)
  • Quality of employment conditions and how they relate to OSH in hospitals

Registration is required for this event.

The meeting draft Agenda and meeting documents are available in the members area.
